Current events? Robertson said that crazy thing more than 20 years ago.

    • You’re right about that. But it was tweeted today. Which reminds me that I forgot to tag it as a “Tweet Of The Day.” I’ll make you a deal: I’ll remove “Current Events” in favor of “Tweet Of The Day”. 🙂

You might add that the single most important thing “conservatives” can do to create more conservatives is to quit listening to each other. Then advise them to admit that they are not conservative at all, but rather a poisonous mixture of dominionists, extremist libertarians, xenophobes, racist’s and bigots who have been suckered by self-serving charlatans. Limbaugh, Hanity, Beck, Savage, Palin et al. A media conglomerate which can be described as a conduit for brain washing and opinion manipulation, Fox News. Then we have the true believers, the Vampires who shamelessly proclaim that god speaks through them, Cruz, Bachman, Santorum et all who state straight faced that the Constitution was written by Jesus who admonished everyone to own an AK- 47, free speech applies to white christianists only, abortion is murder, married gays should be hung, drawn and quartered, evolution is a “theory” and the Antarctic melting before our very eyes is nothing more than a creative way for Jesus to ice the drinks he’s having at his cocktail party. You know, the pre-party before his 2nd coming. Although if he gets luck at his party, the 2nd coming might occur before this whole return to earth to destroy it in order to save it thing.
And lets not forget the millenials. That huge mass of voting humanity progressing through the population like a snakes meal. How do these conservatives not realize that they don’t have to convince each other, they have to convince an entire generation (or more) of people who not only reject every wild-eyed paranoid claim these “conservatives” insist is true, but could care less about the social issues these “conservatives” self -flagellate themselves over.
AHC is the law of the land. Period. Global warming is happening and the only argument that can still be made is how to slow it down. Abortion, despite moralizing elected officials will still remain a choice. And these “conservatives” don’t have a large enough membership to do very much damage. And the membership is aging, becoming smaller and more irrelevant in the process. Like all humanity, they are powerless to stop the progression of time and the changes to human civilization that occur within it.
The B4V crowd is a microcosm of a distillation of the worst outlooks and attitudes that this so called “conservatism” offers as truth. They are delusional. They are paranoid and they think their shit don’t stink. They are hyper-defensive and have wrapped themselves in a cocoon of self-reinforcement. They truly are like the American Spring phenomena. A complete and utterly humiliating failure of an event. Reminds me of the old poster “What if they gave a war and nobody came?” Except the Clevin Bundys of the world. The gun totin’ Jesus belevin’ anarchists who if somehow their paranoid nightmares came true, they would be squished like a bug. Under the steel toed boots of Comrade Obama.

No deal! Robertson is truly out of touch with reality. Not, he has a bizarre way of filtering events like some, but truly truly has no connection with the everyday conservative either. Where is the sport in making him your tweet of the day?

      • Damn you, Bardolf! 🙂 I guess you’re right: There isn’t any point in making fun of Pat Robertson because he does the job all by himself. It was an ill advised Tweet Of The Day that I posted in a moment of weakness. I shall endeavor to do better.

      • Bardolf, who would you say, among politicians and public figures, _does_ have a “connection” with everyday conservatives? Just wondering. Sometimes the loudest mouths are not the most representative.

      • bardolf2 says:

I think Ted Cruz is in touch with conservatives.

        Watson,
I can’t wait to for the attacks you and I will receive for our positions on B4V. As for your tweet of the day, I find it very topical as it expresses the current position of the conservative movement.

      • Casper, Cluster seems to suffer from anger issues and drastic mood swings. Today was one of his bad days.

What separates extremist libertarians from non-extremist libertarians?

    Is it extremist to be
    1. Against entanglements in foreign countries where the US has no interests?
    2. Against the nanny state telling people that e.g. cigarettes/alcohol okay but other drugs bad.
    3. Encouraging people to become less dependent on big government and big corporate.
    4. Against subsidies to businesses which are turning record profits?
    5. Critical of the way large amounts of money are spent in education when compared to Western countries. sports? extra-curricular activities ? magic solutions which claim success without dedication in cumulative areas like math/languages/music etc.
    6. Doubtful of the usefulness of foreign aid.
    7. Doubtful about the usefulness on funneling the economy through big banks.
    8. Doubtful about the need for more police, more prisons etc.

I agree with you on most of your positions. I do think sports and extra-curricular activities are important. They keep kids in school.
